Ranfurly family : Paintings and drawings, 1898-1903.

The collection comprises paintings and drawings collected by the Ranfurly family, 1898 to 1902. It includes two sketchbooks, one containing watercolours of New Zealand around 1900 by a group of artists, one containing watercolour landscapes of the Sub-Antarctic Islands in 1902 by C. N. Worsley. In addition there are four scenic watercolours of New Zealand by Lady Constance Ranfurly, one of Antipodes Island in 1920 by C. N. Worsley and two portraits by C. W. Allers in chalk and watercolour of Lord Ranfurly and of Major Dudley Alexander.

The Earl of Ranfurly was Governor of New Zealand, 1897-1904.

A presentation album to Lady Constance Ranfurly, of landscapes throughout New Zealand by a range of artists (E-567-f). An album of watercolours by C. N. Worsley recording a visit to the Sub-Antarctic Islands in 1902 (E-566-f). Two pastel and watercolour portraits by C. W. Allers (pseudonym W. Andresen) of Lord Ranfurly and of Major Dudley Alexander (D-031-001 & D-031-002). Four landscape watercolours (1898, 1900 and 1902) by Lady Ranfurly (B-139-009, C-133-005, C-133-006 and D-022-012). A watercolour of Antipodes Island, 1902, by C. N. Worsley (D-022-013).
